Severin Hansen

Model 36 Desk, 1958

Model 36 Desk, 1958

An original example of the highly collectible and sought-after Model 36 desk produced by Haslev Mobelsnedkeri in Denmark and designed by Danish master Severin Hansen Jnr. in 1958. This iconic design features Hansen's trademark 3-way mitred joints and tapered legs with maple-lined drawers. The Model 36 was part of the wider No. 30 series of tables that Hansen designed as young man with guidance from his father Hans Severin Hansen. Hansen lacked formal design training which gave his drawings an elegant, modernist simplicity.

This example was made in exquisite rosewood and has been refinished with Danish oil at our workshop. The drawer fronts are solid rosewood whilst the rest of the desk is veneered.  The original key is included.
